ben affleck actually kinda brilliant in this. portrays so much desperatness, psychopathy, patheticness in a subtle and nuanced way that doesnt ever fall into an explicit moment that hand-holds the viewer into realizing oh this guy is insane. He has a very quotidian insanity--"quiet desperation"--that I found pretty compelling to watch despite the movie overall being pretty trash. real disservice to ana de armas tho that her character is reduced to basically nutso alcoholic extremely horny beautiful woman and is given zero motivation/reason for why she is who she is.
