Lupin the Third: The Castle of Cagliostro 1979
Revisiting my first foray into Lupin movies it is both very apparent and a little difficult to see why this one spurred such a fixation in my heart. I have used Cagliostro a few times as an approachable way to introduce my friends to Lupin movies, but I think I should be more bold and trust that my cool weird friends won't be scared off by weirder installments that I like more.
In any case I won't deny the charm of it as much as I won't turn down an excuse to spout fun facts to my friends.

Lupin the Third: Missed by a Dollar 2000
A C tier Lupin flick at best. There's some charming moments between the gang, but most of them are completely superfluous to the plot.
The action was kinda boring and there were too many contrivances without the irreverent tone that makes those contrivances fun. I didn't feel invested in the plot at all. Nabikov and that knife guy that looks like Stinky from Hey Arnold are such insubstantial, played out antagonists. Cynthia is a little more interesting, but not by a whole lot.

Purple Rain 1984
Chalk another one up for movies that are not very good but are deeply enjoyable to experience while just dicking around with your friends.
The best acting, and my favourite part of the movie, was the little dracula looking puppet. I was primed by the joke in this video but it would have been great if this was about a vampire.
My second favourite part of the movie was whatever homoerotic shit was going on between Wendy and Lisa and Morris and Jerome. Morris and Jerome were fun.
We also watched batdance like four times tonight. 5 stars for batdance.

"Then you think, you've left a mark on the world if you just get through it." is just what I needed to hear.
