  this was a really interesting watch as i knew nothing about Rodriguez or the music scene in south africa during the 70s. i feel that perhaps Rodriguez’s personal story/his music could have been touched on more opposed to the journalist’s stories but overall an engaging piece.

  i think i could talk forever about how great florence and andrew’s chemistry and acting was. despite the topic at hand it felt so comforting and authentic, enough that i would want to rewatch it over and over regardless of the pain of knowing its conclusion. 

  my mum didn’t like the ending, she thought it would be sadder and originally i agreed but upon reflection i think how they did it was definitely the right choice as it felt really respectful almost and didn’t glorify or make a big show of her illness which as almut said she didn’t want to be defined by.
