  I didn’t hate it, but it missed a lot of its swings and I think if you cut about 1/3 of it, it would be a way stronger movie

  What if someone watched every Aaron Sorkin movie, then read Ready Player One and decided to see how much they could ratchet tension throughout. This movie largely has its head up its own ass.

  It’s fun as a nostalgia experiment and the chaos largely works- especially in the brief moments where the chaos stops

  Cooper Hoffman is excellent. It sticks the emotional landing.

  I feel like this is, unfortunately, the kind of film one needs to have seen for the first time in high school. I think it very much reads as written by a 22 year old.

  The score is great, and it does a lot of work.

  All this being said it has a strong POV and vision and it achieves the tone it’s looking for
