    A fresh superhero origin which has real stakes and yet doesn’t get let them get in the way of a sense of fun. There are shades of Spider-Man: Homecoming in this movie, which makes sense as this version of the character was heavily inspired Spider-Man, but what really sells the character and the film is its acknowledgment of real word struggles and it’s grounding in the Latino culture.

    The rude dog premise didn’t interest me all that much but it was written by the creator of Netflix’s true crime parody American Vandal and directed by Josh Greenbaum who’s last movie was the phenomenal Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar.

    The jokes are often pretty solid, it’s got some funny sequences, and, this might have been amplified by current state of mind, but it’s often quite sweet.
