i’ve spent the last two weeks mauling through all 24 hours of Twin Peaks and wow.
there’s this dreamlike atmosphere that hangs over every scene in TP which takes you out of reality. so many of the moments between characters have this floating synth theme over it that makes romantic scenes feel bittersweet/nostalgic (like something out of Paris, Texas). especially whenever Lynch is directing, the show does an excellent job of showing how characters feel through atmosphere alone.…Translated from by

watching Paddington 2 and this over the same day was jarring. this was incredibly soulless and sauceless without Paul King and Sally Hawkins. not a single memorable shot or line of dialogue, no real character arcs that ended in any meaningful way, and it seems like they just forgot to give Emily Mortimer and Samuel Joslin any dialogue? Mortimer especially speaks a bit in the first act, but then says NOTHING for an hour until the movie is already ending. they…
