I watched this on December 31st, but then forgot to write (today is January 11th), however I wanted to write some things about it.

First, I loved that the film takes things from the first version from 1954, in that it presents the action and the destruction of the monster, but there is a human development in its characters. It took me by surprise how the protagonist is, the story of a failed kamikaze who did not defend his country,…

I really appreciate that this works as a remake (reinterpretation if you will). The love Robert Eggers has for this story is evident and I totally respect that. I want to live in a world where if directors can do remakes/reboots/spin offs, it's because they have something to say and do in their own style; not because a fast food machine is catching promising directors for their products. Fun time watching Dylan and the representation of the folk scene. Although I enjoyed it, the movie has similar issues as how James Mangold developed 'Walk the Line' years ago. Even both movies have similar focal points, with the love triangle and the misunderstood artist struggling to creat art freely.

I forgot how chaotic the first 30 minutes are with a bunch of things poorly connected. Then the movie starts better representing the life of Johnny Cash and his relationship with June Carter. It misses a few steps and others drag on for no particular reason, but overall I like the movie because of the leading duo.
