  Stephen Soderbergh is a mad scientist genetically engineering perfect thrillers with perfect casts just for me in a lab while he reads a lot of cool books. He’s my favourite guy. If more artists were like him we’d all be better off.

  What is it to know the death of all is coming, and understand that that knowing prevents you from being a part of the “real world”? That real world which lives in a myth that the end is not coming - on purpose - but which nonetheless contains all of the rest of reality? Is knowing that even true, or is it just despair talking? Truth is a mystery, as is the divine. Big big big questions.

  A deeply, satisfyingly strange movie that would have been much better if it had told its story with 50% less narration and a more chronological structure. God forbid I speak out against non-linear structures, of course, but the film lacked urgency, especially in the extended prologue. It just felt slow, which is such a shame. Anyway its still a lot of fun.
