  came out of the film assuming cate blanchett voiced the ethereal deities representing life and death only to be bodied by the fact that she voiced the monkey that only makes monkey noises

  (just about) succeeds as an enjoyable film, fails as an adaptation of emily bronte's life.

  highlights:

  nanu segal's cinematography, abel korzeniowski's score, emma mackey. some unexpected elements psychological horror which was brilliant! attempts to include both humour and gravity which is rarely found in period dramas. despite my criticisms i'm glad i watched.

  flaws:

  suggesting wuthering heights was based off a fictional love affair is so 2000s we have moved past this. the relationship between the bronte sisters was underdeveloped…
