This looked so cool, the colours are so beautiful, and I love how it's choreographed—how characters slide, somersault, crouch in and out of frame. Idk anything about this guy going into it, but Idk if that would have even helped—left lowkey confused but that's okay because the part where the fake club/cafe/whatever falls apart made my jaw drop for some reason

Savvily assembled & conventionally attractive—Vienna looks quite nice here—this is self conscious romantic fantasy for single people kind of. Didn’t love but generously, I am still sort of curious to check out the later ones based on stuff Soren said—could make their more sophomoric musings retroactively charming when we see them get older.

When Ethan Hawke’s voice goes high & bares his teeth it l sort of reminds me of Connor O’Malley talking about imagining going on a picnic with wife & kid before they get killed by the mob.

Anytime Kyuzo did anything, I started acting like Jaylin Williams in a SGA interview. He’s so cool the movie stops so Katsuhiro can tell him how cool he is.

Seven Samurai is undeniable, it’s a stone cold classic. Seeing Shimura in this, after Ikiru, it’s unbelievable how he can transform his presence seemingly through posture alone—gives a greater appreciation for both performances, wow!

Caught this on TV after getting back from Seven Samurai—the emotional turn it takes is dizzying & genuinely affecting. I watched this when I was younger and thought the Henry Winkler repeating “I love you son” scene was ridiculous, but it had me tearing up not gonna lie.
The gag when he’s dying where he flips off Sean Astin & then hand signals ‘you’re alright’ is funny asf.

Click has this signature shlubby paternalistic dad perspective—makes you think wow all the world’s jerks & uncles are reckoning with mortality too.
