I appreciated the toned down approach to storytelling, but it felt lacking at certain points. Also felt like there was a minor effort to portray DFW as a sort of covert narcissist, which he may or may not have been, but I couldn't shake the feeling that it was more of a charicature that was being presented. Maybe this just comes with the territory when you make a movie about someone with something of a cultural mythology surrounding them. Great acting, Jason Segel killed. Jesse Eisenberg was Jesse Eisenberg lol.

Donnie Darko 2001
What. A. Movie. This thing is clearly drenched in symbolism but I'm gonna need to see it at least once more in order to have some sort of grasp on what the writer/director is trying to communicate here. And a note to all directors who want to make a movie about a psychotic person: hire Jake Gyllenhaal.
