Halloween II 2009
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
I enjoyed the previous Zombie Halloween more than I expected, so I had higher hopes for this.
HALLOWEEN II is a departure from what made the first Zombie interpretation as good as it was. It had a great start, but turned into an over-the-top slasher with no real trajectory; just one brutal kill after the other as Michael sees visions of his younger self and his mother. I assume this was a way to give Michael a purpose for killing,…

Halloween 2007
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
If you had to reboot a franchise and stay true to what was previously established, I'd say this was a valid attempt. I've heard a lot of people give this movie a lot of heat and I don't think it's deserved.
My biggest gripe might be the use of Carpenter's original score, rather than coming up with something else that could give a similar vibe. I mean, I'm not incredibly into music culture and whatnot, but Rob Zombie's a musician,…

A Nightmare on Elm Street Part 2: Freddy's Revenge 1985
I realized after the opening credits that THIS was the movie I saw, not the first film. Still, having watched part one, there's the same feel and cheesiness. I think part of that is Wes Craven trying to write dialogue for teenagers; it feels... off.
Freddy's just as creepy, awkward and great here as he was before. I can only imagine how much more over the top he'll be as the franchise continues.
The practical effects are, again, executed fairly well and look better than a lot of special effects we see now.

Halloween Kills 2021
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
We get to see the effect Michael has had on the town over the last 40 years, leading to a mob mentality. The flashbacks and homages to characters in the 1978 original, as well as nods to other films in the franchise, helps give a better sense of how Haddonfield has been affected.
It's not a perfect movie, for sure, but it's a fun, bloody romp that will connect Halloween Ends. Now if only I didn't have to wait for it...
I can't wait to watch all three films back to back to back.
