Victims of Sin 1951
This was one of the finest films I have seen this year! The cinematography by Gabriel Figueroa is spectacular, the performance by all the actors (especially Ninón Sevilla), and the direction by Emilio Fernández is just wonderful. This film has EVERYTHING thrown in by way of plot melodrama and it all works. Seen at the Wexner Center's Cinema of Revival, the film was truly mind-blowing. Highly suggested!

Babylon 2022
I can't think of another film that abused its star this much since Elizabeth Berkley in Showgirls. I'm convinced that even after reading the two scripts, both of them trusted their famed directors to create great art. There were some scenes and moments in Babylon that impressed me, but it was in the midst of such embarrassingly overdone and overlong schlock. It also had ten endings, at least eight of them could have been removed if not nine. I hope…

Alma's Rainbow 1994
"I am delighted to have this opportunity to join you in presenting Dr. Ayo Chenzira's first feature film. As you know, Alma's Rainbow was one of the first full length dramatic narrative films produced and directed by an African American woman in the 20th century. Chenzira's much celebrated and award winning early work is essential viewing today as much as it was when first released in 1994." — Julie Dash
