The Ninth Gate is an earnest if somewhat silly attempt at giallo in the year 2000. All of the characters are enjoyable big swings, even if the story becomes convoluted. Although, as a librarian, it is wacky to see book collectors take no precautions to actually protect books from the 16th century.

Tropic Thunder 2008
I know, I know, problematic fav. But, the way Trop Thunder makes fun of the movie industry, makes fun of everyone who's in it (real or imagined), and makes fun of the absurdity of fiction is just too dang funny. I laughed a lot and I continue to laugh a lot.

A Jean Claude Van Damme classic, fighting, bare ass, and Dolph Lundgren (not in that order).

Cut out 1/3 of the movie. Micheal Keaton is still a genius and worth the price of admission.
