There Are Monsters 2013
Ignore the poster art, this movie is actually really understated and unique despite it. Love me some mumblecore/found footage horror and I'm finding I have a thing for slightly shitty visual effects in horror movies. I loved how the doppelgangers moved and looked in this, was hideously unnerved by the stop-motion crap at the end of Occult and am pretty forgiving of the spooky face bit in They Look Like People.

Opening video is way too long. 15 minutes build-up is wild. And I'm starting to wish Ichikawa had a bit more of a personality. Typical everyday Japanese politeness is incredibly boring to watch over and over. A little bit more like when she gets pissed at Nana in the van.

Doctor Who: Joy to the World 2024
The worst episode of Doctor Who I've ever seen. It's unforgiveable that these same writers continue to fuck up where new writers could be showing their stuff and writing stories that, at the very least, function.
I don't know who this show is for anymore. I don't understand who has standards low enough to tolerate this, or to be excited for another series off the back of this and the last series.
Absolutely atrocious. Truly beneath contempt.

Unbearably annoying main character. Very unnatural dialogue for a found footage film, never mind being fucking terrible. And the expert guide to the catacombs sets off a smoke bomb underground. Fucking braindead.
And just when I think it's annoyed me as much as it's going to it jams in "ooo spooky child", my least favourite horror trope.Had some cool visuals and ideas but honestly I would have binned it 30 minutes in if I wasn't the easiest mark for found-footage horror on Earth.
