Marriage Story 2019
Hardest watch since Threads (1984). In my eyes, the film portrays the great tragedy of our time. Family values (read it as "normal human decency") is nonexistent in the West. People don't know how to attain compromise anymore. They want to win. Always. But they also don't want to look like they want to win. So they pat you on the back and trip you up with a smile. Thank you, political correctness.
Also, I want to congratulate my good friend, Ante Lapenda, for delivering a performance like this.

Watching films our mind follows the thread of the narrative and, by suspension of disbelief, we are drawn into the film's world. Although the process is subconscious and we really become emotionally invested, somehow, at least it's my personal opinion, the feeling of everything being contrived looms just under the surface like an itch so light I'm not even sure if it's there.
Then you come across a film like A Separation. A film that has the quality to erase…
