  Textbook definition of good ideas, awful execution.

  The only redeeming quality for me is Sofia Boutella. She killed it with what little she had to work with. Very rare to see Tom Cruise fail to carry a movie. The product surrounding him is so bad, not even him alone could save it. I wish they used more practical effects on the mummies. Universal panicked canning the universe, they just needed to course correct.

  Awful dialogue, pacing, world building, tonal inconsistency, bad CGI overuse.

  My biggest problem with this film is the tone being all over the place.

  For me, the movie works best when it takes itself a little seriously. I do like some of the ideas presented but the tone shifting back and forth bothers me too much. I don't think Bruce Willis & Milla have chemistry at all so their "romance" falls super flat, especially when the climax depends on it. My other issue is I struggled to truly care about the…

  Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over 2003

  Sidelining Carmen until the third act was a huge mistake. Carmen's back and forth with Juni is fun and I thought that was missing. I do like Grandpa being Juni's main companion. Ricardo Montalbán adds some emotional weight.

  I also really enjoyed Sylvester Stallone in this. He's having a ton of fun and I really like him as the Toymaker. I understand the series is not about them, but there is not enough Antonio Banderas & Carla Gugino in this.
