Still my favorite. It never gets old.

This was my fourth or fifth watch (inclusive of theater viewings), and it just gets better and better each time. For a film that’s 95% dialogue, I continually feel blown away (pun intended). The score is also top tier. My scientific and analytical mind feels drawn to the story as well as the history behind it, and I wish I had the opportunity to sit down and have a conversation with some of the scientists of that era. This is the first film that has threatened to surpass Interstellar as my all time favorite.

The first half of the film is very dense with characters, houses, and planets to learn and get to know. Things start to come together with some intense and thrilling action in the second half. I really enjoyed this and it was a refreshingly different film for me. I am already watching it a second time to get to know it better. As with everyone else, I’m really hoping they follow through with a sequel. Well done Villeneuve.

This film was both beautiful and depressing, a slow-burn “day in the life” story. On one side of the coin, a single, rebellious young mother living in poverty struggles to make ends meet and turns to sketchy activities to try to provide for her and her daughter. On the other side of the coin, a spirited and mischievous young girl shows us how poverty can’t stop a growing child from having fun. The ending is to be expected, but won’t fail to break your heart nonetheless. I really enjoyed this one.
