Above all else, David Berman is a poet. I loved the part in the documentary where he expressed how hard it is to communicate with poetry, and analogized it to sketching on some obscure frozen pond in Wisconsin.
It was so wild seeing David Berman in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, where you can tell he’s encountered real suffering, as he tried so hard to find a way to live and be through Judaism.
