The acting can be a little rough around the edges, and there's this early 2000s indie tone and aesthetic that has aged a lot, but this is truly a gem about trauma and memory, and I'm surprised at how much I liked it. The movie does a great job at building up to the moment when Neil and Brian finally meet, and when they do, it's just so tender and earnest. The particular scene where Brian coily lays his head on Neil's shoulders was lovely and will probably stay with me for a good while.

Richard McGuire's original "Here" is probably my favorite short comic of all times. In just six pages and a dry, simple style, it explores wonderfully the limitations of its medium, and it's so brilliant with its brevity that I'm fairly ambivalent to the 2014 graphic novel counterpart.
