Poltergeist 2015
Soulless and cynical, but half-propped up by the rock man. This would probably make a reasonable plane movie, much like the director's ghostbusters reboots, which are also plane movies.
It's not boring but it's not interesting, and by virtue of both being a remake and being extremely rote it has a familiar, soothing quality. Zero calories, empty drama. It demands nothing more than you look at sam rockwell, gaze at the cgi, and just... zone out. Drift towards the light, and think about the mid 2010's.

Trancers II: The Return of Jack Deth 1991
Finally answers the classic morality quandry: "If your adult wife from the future time-travels into the body of a present day 18 year old, does that make it okay, and should your second wife be ok with it?"

Dirty Maria 1998
A claustrophobic drama, detailing the empty dread of routine life in a world of tiny, bland apartments in modern Japan. Like so many other SOV pinku movies from this era, Dirty Maria feels like an urgent cry for help; a dispatch from a land where loneliness and isolation has turned the suburbs into a prefab hell, devoid of beauty. A barely-there soundtrack, endless drudgery, alienated sex, and scene after scene of oppressive beige interiors. A portrait of life in an inhospitable environment turns into a road trip to nowhere. Great.

American Anarchist 2016
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
This is a movie about a documentary maker who is hellbent on forcing a special needs teacher to apologise for his youthful crime of researching and writing a book about bombs at a time when knowledge was less free. I liked the bit where it turns out that he is personally responsible for every school shooting in America, and also ISIS. The irony! But at least he got royalties.
