  There's a political radio broadcast in this film (from 2006!) theorising that the democrats lost the previous election by failing to engage with the people/working class, while big corporations were highjacking the democratic process.

  Those who don't learn from history etc.

  First of Bonello's work I've seen, found it to be a fun, creepy and emotional roller-coaster with some big lynch vibes and just a dash of tarkovsky maybe? Certainly unique and plenty to unpack, still kinda processing it.

  My biggest reservation is the almost-verbatim Elliot Rodger stuff, I recognised it straight away and it took me out of it, feel like they could've got the same point across without such an overt reference.

  Feel like I've dreamt of this movie, it's so up-my-alley in every aspect. Dreamy Y2K imagery, hazy and evocative synth score, and a philosophical scope on par with the best from Tarkovsky or Malick.

  The kind of movie that I can see myself becoming really annoying about I fear.
