This is just the plot of the lion king...
Nice try Eggman.
It's strange to see a movie so old yet modern in style.
To realize everyone has been copying this man's homework for the last 60 years.
Masterful framing, blocking and scene construction. I'd happily watch this on mute.
Acting and writing are also all around fantastic, making the characters and their world feel alive and real.
We experience the destruction of childhood at the hands of war and the resulting radicalisation of innocence.
Imagine you're in the process of writing a play about a guy going mad from eating too many peas, just because you feel like it...
You die and years later people discover your drafts, spending whole lifetimes trying to reconstruct your lost masterpiece.
Herzog's "Woyzeck" is pretty much a direct adaptation of the play, with minimal changes. Meaning lots of static camera angles and verbose theatric dialogue.
As such Herzog's strengths like his distinct realism are missing, making the film seem uncharacteristically artificial.
All in all it's just a staging of Woyzeck, a particularly pretty one, but nothing more, nothing less.
Why are they afraid of the gay jewish man?
My favorite parts when that one guy smoking a huge ass pipe and also when Nosferatu fought those guys on the boat and boss music started playing.
I recommend watching at 1.5x speed with the sound off.
Better than Sponge on the run, but worse than the original Spongebob movie.
