“It’ll go away.”
“I don’t want it to go away”
An action movie with no thrills, an adventure story with no wonder, science fiction with the bare minimum of imagination, at least a half dozen mailed-in performances, the technicals of a direct-to-video sequel, and a pair of "oh, even for you" level disasters from its leads
...and still, nothing felt as insulting as watching that fuckass Mr. Redlegs ripoff robot the week of Opening Day.
(Anthony Mackie seemed to be having fun)
Feels like an ideal/timeless movie of a kids show cartoon: the zaniness and the setpieces have a little more kick while the characters also feel a little more grounded to keep the train rolling over the extended runtime. Looney Tunes are fuckin’ great, this was a treat.
Also, very clever to put Looney Tunes in a mismash of 50s sci-fi, lets them keep their flavor without trying to modernize them too much (not against it, just has very mixed results!)
I know old Cartoon Network would have run this shit back 3 times a week.
