    The Brutalist

Brutalism arose from the horrors of humanity. It served as a resurrection. Born again into a cruel world, it sought to endure. To continue. To survive. It cut away all frivolous extravagance. Leaving only the raw and real. The American dream is a facade. You can assimilate, disappear into the background. Or you can endure. You can create something great. But there is no reward at the end. Crew Expendable

A masterwork, iconic in every sense.
Where to even begin. Before Weyland-Yutani shenanigans , before double Fassbenders, before YY chromosomes, before the crossovers and mid video games (except isolation) there was this: 7 crew members, a cat, and the perfect organism. Sleek, simple, elegant. There is no wasted motion. The perfect bedrock for at least one good movie and many more meh ones.

    Key takeaways:
    - Gosling is ludicrous, no one should be this good (I love him so much ❤️)
    - it's always wonderful to see Rhea Perlman !
    - Montage near the end had some real sauce behind it, genuinely wonderful
    - Pretty great gags through out, final joke is a banger.
    - patriarchy bad, horse good, I should get a fur coat

Overall, solid outing. Good time all around. We probably don't need a Mattel cinematic universe though. Misogyny points go down 📉
