  Soderbergh’s new matrimonial spy thriller is a taut, unpredictable, darkly funny and very economical bit of filmmaking by a seasoned pro, and was a cracking good time for us. 

  With both a former Moneypenny and Bond in the relatively small but steing ensemble cast, the two leads in Cate Blanchett and Michael Fassbender steal the show, with their delightfully arch and intense performances, respectably. Definitely a “who do I want to fuck first?” onscreen couple.

  Very enjoyable if lightweight fantasy romp.

  Stuck me as slightly odd that for an obviously girl-power against the patriarchy movie, it kind of also seems to be trying to avoid having actual despicable male characters in it, with the main villain[s] being female. Trying to give impart their feminist message without alienating the mysoginist snowflake demo?

  I dunno, but I’m always happy to see Robin Wright ham it up as an evil queen. Give me her over Gal Gadot any day.

  Totally captivated by this excellent, excellent film. Even though I’m a huge franchise, sequel and reboot geek, it is a breath of fresh air to see an original (well, adapted from a novel) piece of IP get this kind of deluxe treatment and the meticulous work of a writer-director with a real personal vision. Which makes it all the more outrageous that this terrific film is apparently bombing, and getting only middling reviews.
