    Found Footage

Real life filmmaker Alec Balas explores death and the paranormal after rediscovering old footage from his forgotten projects. That is all the information I could find about the movie, and the standard description on movie sites.
The movie begins with the director reminiscing about the very first horror film he made in 2010, along with various home horror movies he created as a kid growing up. From there we go to a few interviews he recorded with family and friends,…

To get the full impact of this movie, I recommend seeing the entire trilogy which will answer a lot of questions. I watched this movie alone late at night and admit that it gave me the creeps. Blending found footage with a mockumentary style, I think works well here. The setting of a real haunted hotel being used as a Halloween haunt project, along with things like a dark basement and life size clown props become unimaginable terrors. I'm not a huge found footage fan, but this one got under my skin.

    ★½

This movie is too much like Skinamarink for it's own good. I understand the popularity of experimental film lately, but if you as a filmmaker want the audience to "get" your message, then it can't be an incoherent, confusing, and muddled mess.
