  I really enjoyed this, even if it was almost shockingly linear and conventionally told. It’s a simple tale of paranoia and toxic masculinity with equal parts humor and melodrama, but I found it to be slightly more sympathetic to our antagonist than I was expecting. He’s quickly established as a band person early on, and at no point is he shown in a positive light, but his paranoia is so intense and his reactions so severe that you can’t help but feel his paranoia. There is no joy or feeling of justice in his fate.

  give julio torres a micro budget and a bit and he’ll turn water into wine. 

  screened in the most quintessential new york experience, at the thunderous angelika on houston above the broadway lafayette station behind a man so tall I only saw 2/3 of the screen while eating an apparently vegan “low fat yogurt banana muffin” that turned to dust the moment i touched it.
