  A Planes, Trains & Automobiles for the modern day.

  A full emotional grappling of trauma and avoidance. Jesse’s writing is so grounded and full that you can feel that pain baked into every angle of this and know exactly the frustrations of having a friend like Benji and being that friend. This is somehow a cathartic watch while asking if cathartic experiences are even attainable.

  Huge aspirations while achieving nothing. I’m glad to have seen this while being absolutely certain I will never sit through it again. And I have little in the way of arguing with anyone who hates or loves this movie. Such huge swinging metaphors and choices, but manages to say very little. At times this felt wandering and never ending (compounded by the live 30 minute Q&A before my screening that merely become a Robert Deniro Rock the Vote PSA) and never fully landed. I could feel differently after a day or two of digestion, but at a first glance this was exhausting and totally nuts.

  I had low expectations going into this from the trailer and left totally wowed from the twists and josh garnett’s performance. see this in a theater with as big a group as possible for all the laughs and gasps.

  m night is such a gentleman and sweetie, he came out before the world premiere gushing about his daughter’s performance, introducing the cast and crew and just beaming with joy.
