When I first heard David Lynch had made a Disney film, I wondered how on earth that could work -- I don't typically associate Disney with body horror and existential dread, you know? After getting more into his movies though, I now see that Lynch was perfectly suited for this. The Straight Story translates his fascination with small towns, the love of driving on an open road, and the plea for us to put love first in a world that has plenty of suffering to offer into a G-rated format. Since these themes draw me to Lynch's work, I found this delightful.

Watched in honor of Pat Hitchcock O'Connell (1928-2021), may she rest in peace.
My first time re-watching this as an adult, and I'm happy to report it holds up. The way Hitchcock frames the shots is so unsettling and unique, the story keeps you in suspense -- overall it's a good time.

Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me 1992
Fire Walk with Me is just so... visceral. I didn’t think I could be more disgusted by the behavior of everyone in the town of Twin Peaks than I was watching the TV show, but I was wrong! I always love seeing Laura and appreciated getting to understand her story a little better.
