Short take: Lazy, and disingenuous, this movie trades almost exclusively on emotional connections that other filmmakers, actors, and crews worked to forge, and offers virtually nothing of its own to try and support them.

There's so much done to establish place, to establish feeling - to whit: the opening ticker about the Nostromo lists it was having 20,000,000 tons of ore aboard. That number is so big, it is almost impossible to grasp - the Empire State Building, for instance, weighs around 365,000 tons, which is not a real weight in my mind, but a string of numbers…

Someone, maybe several someones, involved in writing this show fucking hates cops, correctly and with my full support, and there's no way Disney wants that, but they havent managed to stop it coming through.
The music is really carrying the weight in this thing - episode 3 was about as a telegraphed and familiar a courtroom episode as you'll find, but it manages to tow some emotional freight, even when the writing isnt superb. I believe that is much to do with the music and the sound. Really enjoying this, so far.
I'm gonna tell my friends' kids this is PACIFIC RIM 2.
Actually better than I remembered, and I remembered it fondly - dramatic beats are good, action is rugged, cast is great, score and soundtrack are good. If this is not the nadir of television making in the modern age, it is certainly somewhere near it. There have been a lot of bad episodes under Disney's belt, and Jon Favreau is responsible for writing a great number of them, but this is his trash masterpiece. Trashterpiece.
