The methodical and unpredictable plot of three people suffering the same misfortune of the carceral system is captured perfectly by Jim Jarmusch in this film. The film itself is a lot like the city it all takes place in for a good chunk of the film. The best character for a good chunk of this film is the city of New Orleans, which is as multidimensional and as interesting as the characters presented throughout the film.
Thora Birch and Scarlett Johansson star in this coming of age dark comedy about a couple of high school graduates trying to figure out their way and all the eccentricities that life throws their way. Revisited this film after years of being curious about it, seeing it when video rental spots still existed, and it stands as a classic to this day.
