When I walked away comparing this film to two of my personal 10/10 films, (My Dinner with Andre and Synecdoche, New York,) I knew I had seen something special. It's taken a few days of processing and arguing with others, but the score is this: I love theatrical film. I love films that play with the medium and films that are about incompetent losers tumbling through life while trying to rip some art out of their experiences. I've never come…

    Highlander II: The Quickening

    ★★

Died laughing at the hoverboard scene, but otherwise I can barely recount nor remember the events of this film. The hoverboard scene is edited literally like a YTP.
I'd ask anyone to try and explain what has or hasn't been retconned. This misstep will not keep me from exploring the franchise further. I blame the episode of The Unloved from Roger Ebert's website for making me hopeful that this movie might've been genuinely good.

The central issue with Artemis Fowl is that nothing connects. The characters, the dialogue, the performances, even the plot threads don’t connect. Everything about this film makes me want to bang my head against a wall. It’s like a TV movie in every way except for its CGI, and even then some shots weren’t even fully rendered, so the film drops to 12 FPS or lower. This also happens halfway into CGI heavy sequences, which then return to their normal speed…
