Some Like It Hot 1959
Nobody’s perfect, but this movie is as close as you get. Exactly what you want from a rom com, especially since it is heavier on the com than the rom. The movie doesn’t fall into the trap of “gender swapped” comedies that rely on heavily transphobic jokes. With amazing actors including Marilyn Monroe, this film is a laugh a minute. A great light hearted comedy with heart.

What a ride. I wouldn’t call this an “amazing” movie, but I don’t think it ever tried to be, either. It revels in the camp and pulp of 80s action films, like an abstract John Wick. There is almost no subtlety to this script, instead replacing it with straight vengeance action porn. It feels more like reading a comic than watching a film.
And I love it for it. Beautiful cinematography. Heightened action sequences. Amazing use of symbolism. Highly recommend. …

Extremely solid noir film. Paints a beautifully bleak picture of 1950s LA while weaving a character driven murder mystery. Surprisingly anti-toxic masculinity and anti-military for a film from the 90s.
