I really liked this! I almost skipped it, thinking Pamela Anderson as a showgirl would be cringey, but it totally surprised me. It’s such an interesting look at aging, relationships, and life in that world - way more female-focused than something like Anora, which just felt male-gazey in parts. The constant close-ups got a bit much, but overall, a really interesting watch!

Another 3-star film for me. I loved the stop motion - it was super creative - and I even appreciated the dark, depressing tone. But my god, was it miserable. Since it was told as a memoir, narrated by the main character, it just sped through all the most poignant, depressing moments of her life without much breathing room. Having lived in Australia, I always enjoy seeing Australian films and their culture, but I wanted more depth and a stronger storyline. Because it was framed as a memoir, I never connected with the characters enough to really care.

I found this film eye-opening, but it didn’t stick with me. It gives a raw look at life for Palestinians in the West Bank before everything escalated, and I really admired the bravery of those who kept protesting and filming. That part was powerful. But as a documentary, it didn’t hit as hard as I expected - maybe because it focused more on the struggle than on the people themselves. I’d love to see a film that dives deeper into their everyday lives.

It was great to finally see a film that discusses female sexuality and pleasure in a way that was sensual, and avoids becoming male gaze-y!
