    Got to attend a q&a with both directors and Mendoza's stand-in in the film.

    Mendoza directed the actors and Garland handled the technical aspects.

    This is the most brutal war film that has been made by an American and really evokes the vibes of Come and See. The film is a hard watch and succeeds in not being propagandic or glorifying while still authentically conveying the experiences of various soldiers, the co-director, Mendoza, included.

    This film is not what I would typically expect from Araki, but one I felt was executed in a way that was truthful and not exploitative.

    This film is a very hard watch even without personally relating to events of child molestation and rape, but is one which handles that material in a barely pallateable but, again, genuinely truthful way.
