Ladies of Leisure 1930
Great performance from Barbara Stanwyck in a movie that is a bit of a mess, a combination of light comedy and melodrama.
The other standout performance is from Nance O'Neil who has a surprisingly nuanced and sympathetic role as the disapproving mother.
The main problem with this very early "talkie" is that the leading man, Ralph Graves, hasn't yet figured out how to act for sound movies.
I almost stopped watching after the first half hour, but glad I came back and finished watching the next day.
