This was nuts… I feel like I just went to the circus. Though maybe I should’ve expected that when a puppeteer adapts a feminist horror/sci-fi story for 2004, he may gravitate towards zany aughts caricatures and cutting-edge special effects. I typed a bunch of other stuff about this movie but actually it was funny and insane enough to be impenetrable to any serious thought (Jon Lovitz is in it). Expecting a 2020s remake soon 🔮

All comparisons to Silence of the Lambs aside, this had potential to stand on its own on, maybe under different direction. There's something disconnected and kind of disingenuous about it? I laughed out loud a couple times. Did I still feel scared walking home from the theater? Maybe a little.
