This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
A good, straightforward horror movie. The story is tight and delivered well, and the movie suffers from none of the common pitfalls of the genre (poor acting, awkward dialogue, etc). For most the running time, I got “after school special” vibes, given the tidy drug abuse allegory and the tragedy that ensues. However the ending revealed something messier and deeply sad, a fantasy that sacrificing yourself can save all the people you hurt.
A very solid first feature. I’m excited to see what the Philippous do next.
