Universal Language 2024
Rod peeler benches in Farsi, graveyards on the disraeli median, salisbury house street food cart, sooo many things I would’ve never imagined that I would see in a film. The depiction of wpg is so unlike my experience, but somehow manages to capture the emotion of the city—the loneliness that exists in so many forgotten spaces. Things freezing and unfreezing—money, clothes, teardrops. Returning home to wpg and realizing that everything is the same and everyone knows each other somehow, but something is not quite right and you feel like an outsider. I wish my 19 year old self could’ve seen this film.
