Is it just me or the acting and the lines are just soooo off? Like I wanted to believe all the cringe bits are intentional but they’re just ….not. Both the meaning and the form used to convey it are so diluted and loud. A really really frustrating experience.

I like how this movie associates submissive tendencies only to a desire to renegotiate power, instead of being a result of self-destructive inertia (a plot present in many films about female masochism). Jacob interrogates Romy why on earth would she be into degrading sex and she doesn’t have an answer. No one has an answer and that is what’s at stake.
