Folks, this is a great couples date night movie, go see it. Soderbergh and Koepp do not waste any time in delivering a taut, sexy marital spy thriller. And the cast is uniformly excellent. Just everybody in front of and behind the camera so good at what they're doing and is absolutely cooking. Very much in the vein of Soderbergh's Out of Sight and Ocean's Eleven, scenes bathed in warm light with a big fuzzy bloom on the highlights, propulsive spy movie jazz setting the tone and tempo. Also a very London movie--which is as a former Londoner a big plus for me.

A deeply strange, uncanny, and mysterious film, and this kind of thing is very much my jam. Second time seeing it, now in the lovely Steve Jobs Theater with excellent sound. And yeah. Funny, beautiful, clever, moving--great. Do fuckbots dream of electric sheep?

This movie has some compelling themes and ideas, but for better or worse instead of fully exploring them the filmmakers prioritized making a nailbiting and surprising horror-thriller. It makes for a fun movie-going experience and some memorable scenes but not a whole lot more IMO. Sophie Thatcher is great--this movie would not work without the emotion she brings. And speaking of emotion, that Bee Gees (or rather, Samantha Sang feat. The Bee Gees) needle drop was a super unexpected and weird choice and I kind of loved it.

    Good for her.
