  You can tell this movie was made by a man trying to be edgy - nothing profound about it but uses trauma porn to convey the theme of women’s exploitation in society, especially in the world of celebrity. I suppose from a meta level, a film being this difficult to watch conveys the disgrace that is our society in this regard.  That said, did they need to explore this through Marylin Monroe? Especially if you’re including things that didn’t actually…

  Loved the references to Jung in this via Willem Dafoes character! Definitely a film that lends itself to an exploration of archetypes and our shadow selves.
