  I don’t know why I took so long to watch this.  I had always heard it was nowhere near as good as the first so I avoided it for years.  That might be true, but it’s still in the top half of Hackman’s filmography.  Worth it for the extended drug sequence.  Addiction is real.

  This film is the definition of provocative.  Hard to watch but rewarding.  Brilliantly directed and achingly acted.  I will be thinking of this one for a long time.
