  Let’s start by saying the animation is absolutely beautiful. You could honestly watch this movie for just that. The story also has deep themes and layered characters. The problem I have with it, however, is the character development, especially the development between characters. 

  When the movie opens, you realize there is a lot of complications. There’s a dead mother, a father who marries her sister, a son who feels like he should’ve saved her, and now some nosy old grandmas,…
