  All the secondhand embarrassment of real family reunions and none of the levity. I remember watching this as a kid and feeling like it was so bad it was cursed. This is my first rewatch as an adult and I have to say, although I’m sure I can understand much more of it, I feel the same way. I don’t know if I can intellectualize it- the whole thing just feels “ick.” Almost painful to watch. Also, is there a soundtrack? How is it chock-full of conflict and simultaneously insufferably boring?
