  In the Mood for Love 2000

  "I didn't expect it to hurt that much."

  A subtle, crushing tale that I'm still thinking about days later. The cinematography is outstanding. Vivid colour palettes, compressed perspective, figures moving in and out of focus, tricks with framing and mirrors... everything I love about photography is brought to life here. Definitely one to rewatch. Thanks to @asiancinemacltv for hosting this 4K screening!

  Holds up great on the rewatch - I could pick up new details that add more depth to the mystery and satire.

  This time I was lucky to see it in cinema. Bong's trademark tonal shifts sure hit different when things are silent and grim and you're fighting to stifle a laugh

  Absolutely wild, such a hilariously inventive movie. I zoned out a little early on but once it started to click I was so here for it. Every question is answered, often with a stroke of brilliance – the layers to this are very satisfying.

  Loved this. It's not so much frightening as unsettling. A great slow-burn horror: you get to know the main characters, and it gets under your skin as it tears their world apart.

  The possessed Regan is brilliantly disturbing, and there's a palpable sense of growing despair. You also witness the frustrating path to diagnosing a demonic possession in the 20th century (I did not enjoy the realism in the medical scene).

  After watching this my stomach gurgled and it seriously gave me the creeps. So good job.
