My first real exposure to Edgar Wright and I respect the he’ll out of this. It’s vibrant and has its own unique voice but it just doesn’t speak to me. It’s wild and fun to watch, and the editing is off the charts.

Most of the humor that really lands here honestly comes from Kieran Culkin. So many good jokes here involving his character

This stands out quite a bit within Clint’s filmography. Typically he plays the man with no name, the badass, or the grump old man. Sometimes all three in 1. Here he a somewhat innocent and naive old man filled with sentiment and regret. A layer that I have not seen much from him, and the almost father-son dynamic him and Bradley Cooper have is one of the best parts of the entire thing

Babette is one of my new favorite…

Sometimes you watch a movie and sit in silence for a minute afterwards, and this one gives you a minute to do so before the credits hit. I found a lot of similarities to Tree of Life, in its artistry, cinematography focusing in on nature, and larger questions it asks.

It certainly was a slow burn, and I felt very similarly to how I felt about Tree of Life. I respect the art and craft but just didn’t fully click…
