  First time I’ve really clicked with this movie. Some astonishingly good editing on display here. The build up and execution of the fish tank explosion is so fucking good. Kittridge, you’ve never seen me very upset.

  Fascinating. 

  One of the actresses was describing Kubrick on set and she told a story of how he would never communicate with the actors directly, always going through the 1st AD to pass notes to the point where he would blankly ignore her if she was standing right next to him and they’d have a conversation through another person. She was giggling like ‘it was so strange haha’. Everyone was like ‘he was so quirky teehee’.  No one explained why he did this.

  Earns its 5 stars in the first 20 minutes alone with one of the greatest nature documentaries ever made. The opening sequence should be on the required reading list of every history of evolution student across the planet. More films should have extended prologues about apes.

  Blows my mind that this film released just one year before we set foot on the moon. Insane coincidence or…
