    media literally is seriously dying.

    it’s like people want the characters to look directly into the camera and say “this is wrong. this is exploitative. this is immoral.”

    the inability to distinguish between sexual art and misogynistic pornography is as individually perceived as it is cognitively limiting. Yes, *all* of sexuality deserves critique in the context of the patriarchy. But i stg some of you would’ve hung Botticelli for painting The Birth of Venus

    my first introduction to my now favorite director. yorgos rounds out the top 5 with david lynch, guillermo del toro, spike lee, & sean baker who has had previously replaced greta gerwig 😬

    it’s also my favorite performance an actress has ever given. after the glenn close sweep, i looked at the universe and said that if Olivia Colman won the Oscar after the Glenn Close career precursor sweep, i would never complain about the Oscars again. i’ve held true to that promise and feel responsible for the subsequent explosion of her career

    I’ve watched a few Sean Baker movies (Tangerine & The Florida Project) and I have always loved his raw commitment to oddity and authenticity in American lifestyles. Anora is perhaps his magnum opus thus far in terms of allowance in budget and scale that made the film come to life. Tangerine was experimentally shot on an iPhone for reference.
